The natural body cycles
Biological clocks assure the effective function of the body. Energy wise on daily basis we take in food (appropriation), we absorb and use some of that food (assimilation) and we get rid of what we don’t use (elimination). Each of these functions is always ongoing, but each is more intense during certain hours of the day
Noon to 8 pm. - Appropriation (eating and digestion)
8 pm. To 4 pm. – Assimilation (absorption and use)
4 pm. To noon - elimination (of body waste and food debris).
Physiologically our bodies wants to eat early in the evening, so that at least 3 hours can pass (the time needed for the food to leave the stomach) before you go to rest and into the assimilation cycle.
If you eat late a night you extend the assimilation period well into the morning and will there fore often find that you do not want to eat before much further into the day (fruits can help a late elimination cycle and water of course).

To optimize energy intake and waste disposal:
-do not drink water with a meal. The digestive juices in the stomach helping to brake down the meal, gets diluted, which prevents proper digestion.
-rest 10 min. after meal to improve digestion. Chill sometimes!
-fibres keeps gut moving, binds toxins and escorts then out of the body
-anti-oxidants (vitamin A-C-E-selenium protects from harmful oxidants.

HIGH WATER CONTENT FOOD

If you want to be vibrantly alive- you have to eat food that is alive. You may ask yourself if the food you put into your body will cleanse you or clog you???
We are living on a planet that is more than 70% water. Your body contains 70% water and your diet should consist of 70% high water content food- which is fruit and vegetables. Everything else is concentrated foods.
Drinking water will not do it, because water does not carry the enzymes and other life preserving elements into the body as fruit and vegetables does.
Modern food
Much of the food we by is impoverished; out of season, imported, nutrients lost during transit, storage and bright supermarket shelves. Prolonged shelf life is commercially obtained by elimination of micro organism, sterilisation or irradiation- procedures that renders the food lifeless.

-Natural dynamic body movements all the time. Expansion-contraction- weight shifts, twists assure release of toxins throughout muscles, tendons and joints, as well as lungs and internal organs.
No more than one protein meal a day
All amino acids (proteins) not needed for tissue repair and tissue growth has to be destroyed. The liver removes the amino group and converts the rest into glycogen (sugar) and fats. The amino group is converted into urea, which is then removed from the blood by the kidneys. Both form an acid solution. Potassium and calcium are needed to neutralise this acid and is lost to the body. Excess protein in the diet therefore puts the liver under stress. The loss of calcium may be made up by removing calcium from the bones. The loss of potassium makes it more difficult for the body product of excess protein, which causes stress when a constant conditions.
Don’t mix protein and starch meals.-Lysine, an essential component of protein is destroyed when they are cooked together.
Sugar is absorbed to quickly in the blood stream. It results in swings in blood levels, which again puts a strain on all regulation systems in the body (the glands) High blood sugar levels con increase damage in all the tissues the blood bathes. Sugar ads nothing use full to the diet.

REMEDIAL BREATHING EXERCISES

Certain exercises bring peace into the mind and soothe the nerves; by the practice of these exercises, even a man of weak constitution may sep fairly good, trouble-free health.

Complete breathing exercise:


-Technique
Lie on the back. Keep the knees flexed. Keep yourself relaxed. Place both hands on the upper thorax.
Breathe in, expanding the upper thorax first. Concentrate on expanding only the upper thorax. Do not force the pace. Extend the breathing according to your capacity, count 3, 4 or 5 in the beginning and gradually increase to 6, 7 or 8 in a few days. Do not hold the breath (kumbhaka). Breathe out gently, keeping the same rhythm and press the upper thorax downward.
Repeat six times.

 



Place the hands on the sides of the thorax or the sides of the rib cage. Feel the rib cage expanding at the sides when breathing in. Expand gradually according to your capacity; count to 3, 4 or 5 in the beginning and gradually increase the count to 6, 7 or 8 after a few days. Breathe out in the same rhythm, pressing gently the sides of the rib cage with both hands. Repeat 6 times.
Place both hands on the abdomen, just above the navel. Breathe in, expanding the abdomen only, count to 3, 4 or 5; gradually increase the count to 6, 7 or 8 after a few days. Breathe out gently. Pressing the abdomen downward till the abdomen feels empty, Always breathe out through the nose. Then repeat the whole process from below upwards. Repeat breathing in and out from abdomen, to mid-thorax and upper thorax. The rhythm is important. Rest about thirty seconds.

-Therapeutic effect
This exercise is of tremendous value to atheletes and sports-men, swimmers and divers. It is beneficial to the convalescent after surgery, to the nervous and to those who have a weak constitution.

-Caution
Never inhale forcibly. The mind must be calm during the breathing exercise.

 

 

 



NADI-SHUDDHI

Nerve-Purification

-Technique
Sit in any comfortable and relaxed position. Keep the back and the next erect. Place the right thumb on the right nostril. Keep the left nostril free. Place the index and the middle fingers between the eyebrows.
Leave the third finger slightly away from the left nostril. Start breathing through the left nostril; follow the breath, imagine that the breath is coming from the region of the heart, near the solar plexus. Follow it and feel that it is going to all the senses and all round the brain. Do not hold or stop the breath (kumbhaka). The whole process of breathing is meant to calm the mind. Do not force or strain during the breathing. Hold the breath for a second, then press the left nostril with the third finger and remove the right thumb from the right nostril. Breathe out from the right nostril, gently keeping the same rhythm as in the in-breathing. The position of the hand remains continuously in the same position. Now breathe in from the right nostril with the same rhythm. In the beginning count 5 or 6 while breathing in and 5 or 6 while breathing out. After a few days you can increase the count to 8, 10 or 12 breathing in and breathing out. A smooth continuous rhythm is important.


-Caution
Forcible in-breathing and out-breathing is contra-indicated. Holding the breath without proper guidance can give a dangerous reaction which can cause irreparable damage. Remember to increase the counts gradually. The best results can be obtained in the morning and at night before going to bed. Regularity, discipline and keeping the mind calm are the first necessary steps to get the best results.

Natural life and expressions must be brought back into the city. It is essential for the physical, spiritual and mental health of the people. Go Green is an organisation that links our culture towards health. We initiate cultural- political interaction, green area planning, set up health, activity and expression forums.

Green ways are being recreated with grand success. And righteous so! It is embarrassing to drive along a road and witness the walking people squeezed out in the ditch, baking in the sun. Or joggers doing what they know best on none bouncing, uniform asphalt, breathing car exhaust, while feeling somewhat vulnerable if not totally in the way among the fast moving engine people. It is time to increase the awareness of the basic balance in our surroundings, because this is the only way back to a healthy planet and healthy lively people. Our recent straight lined and sedentary culture slowly eliminates every touch of nature. It is highly toxic for the planet, our common sense and overall vitality.

Life in the modern city has become a symbol of the fact that man can become adapted to starless skies, treeless avenues, shapeless buildings, tasteless bread, joyless celebration and spiritless pleasures. We work often routine tasks in enclosed spaces and are increasingly treating our self as machines.
Our technological cleverness has isolated us from the world of nature. We even let our kids play football on plastic grass, because is cheaper to maintain. It is senseless indeed. The playgrounds are flat, made from iron and plastic for safety and easy maintenance of place and child.
-in many aspects we are too adaptable for our own good. We can survive in our concrete jungles and fool our self that we are enjoying the amusement and material comfort they provide. And yet deep down we know that something is lacking. We miss our contact with the natural world.


Parks with shady trees to tumble- grass to kick off the shoes, for toddlers, to sit on, to play on (acrobatics, martial arts, circus tricks).we need retreats, mini- spots, the tranquillity under a wise old tree. Alternatives to the body limiting representatives of the sedentary cultures: cafés, bars, benches and strollers.

Kids camps-children need to connect with the tranquillity and simple greatness of nature. let them roam on the mountain, climb in trees, make camp fire, sleep under open sky, learn basic skills such as pottery, handicraft, herb- lore, tree house building and natural living. Helping out in a grout and develop community skills.

Healing herbs- we should all have basic knowledge of how nature heals us. There in included the more common herbs there is around us. Know how to recognize the early onset of symptoms and be able to our self to take early action, with our natural inborn tools.

The tree
Prime concern is not to raise plants, but healthier and happier people!
The hanging gardens of Babylon had a purpose, they were not only places of beauty, but spiritual retreats used for physical rest and mental repose. Just think about your concept of heaven. Is it a nightclub, a supermarket or a world created by nature?
Flowers attract life to them.- and the desire to inter act with life.
Trees should be seen as the grand harmonizers they truly are, rather than limiting their use to ornamental purpose.
1.Trees could be planted along roads and high ways. They absorb both CO2 exhaust from motor vehicles and blocks as acts as a noise barrier. Instead trees are being cut down. The argument is security. They are dangerous in case a car slams into it. Statistics.
2. The trees provides a natural filtered shade. It is absurd that trees are planted on the side of the pavement, where they have no practical purpose at all, other than ornamental and as dog toilets.
3.The grand tree has since the beginning of time been a natural gathering place. We use bushes, plants and trees to steel a little intimacy, as to focus on immediate surroundings. To get a brake from observed from the world. Teenagers seek abandoned places, little corners not usually to do dark things, but rather their own separate stuff.
The ornamental view does not seem to satisfy the city people, who line up like cattle to escape their cement jungle and fall back in nature, when their schedule permits them… they would not have the same urgent urge, if we incorporated a bit of wilderness into all our city developments, instead of filling every patch with straight lined concrete.
The real estate and construction business is expanding big time. We must assure before it is too late, that some of the empty lots are left to balance local neighbourhoods with areas with space and wilderness. Small preen spots, little retreats- allow the people to catch that peace and tranquillity of nature everywhere.
Yes, and all the doggies. Don’t worry. Your ability to detect the shit from the flowers will sharpen quickly. It is organic and less harmful for your whole being than spending a lifetime on cement. We need parks to tumble in, green paths to linger on, where the trees enwraps us like a canopy, bushes to snug behind and fields of high grass and flowers to sink into.
Roads asphalt and cement
Paved surfaces dulls your senses, especially you’re the ones located around your ankles. If the surface you walk also is mostly flat, well then you are most likely to use your feet mechanically and seldom bending your ankle more that 90 degrees. Limited use of joints causes short muscles, loos of elasticity and movement range (if you fall backwards when squatting with heels on ground- you are in that bunch!).
When the mechano-receptors of the ankles are dulled from lack of re-bouncing, reactions are slow. We stumble easier, and do not always have the instant reaction to hinder a fall or a twist. It becomes difficult to trust our feet abilities on difficult terrain or in the dark.
But if you walk bare feet for some month, you will realise that our feet are the most incredible sensory detectors. 1. You feel in a split second when you are about to step on something harmful and therefore never step down on it. You do a slight weight change.
2. if you follow a path in the dark, your feet feel the surface and you feel when you are of the beaten track.
3. The dog turds are the only challenge left for your feet to balance around.
As a race we have inhabited planet earth for at least 2 million years. 99% of this time. We lived nomadic existence.
The secondary benefits follow in form of easing of the desperate exodus of city people towards nature in weekends and holydays.
To avoid the smog from the city, enjoy and benefit from the fresh sea breeze, a pine or palm grove…
It is obvious that city people need a brake from the linear cement ambience they are surrounded by.
The healing aspect of nurturing a life.

Practical aspects
There is a healing aspect in nurturing a life. The soil con be cared for by the people who belong there, rather than somebody paid by the hour, follow office orders, with no input of creativity and daily use. Gardening is done out of love, not out of duty and there is many in the urban life who long touch and care for soil and plants. Each park, garden and green spot will have their guardian to assure further growth.
Vandalism will minimize with personal touch.

The organisation health and culture back up information in consideration of the people. We work as a link between political plans and actual everyday living. We represent the healthy aspect of our culture as oppose to merely production, the city can be as cosy as a meadow… we believe that the opinion of the locals, shall carry as mush weight in decisions affecting their areas, as architect drawings and from someone who has no deeper connection.
Public projects are these days sold for bid to private companies. Once passed on, official consider themselves done. The politician decides his town planning with a group of advisers, mostly architects and economical advisers.
Big construction projects are coming to town. Big signs with little information…
Noise pollution
Security noises: building cranes with security devises. Runs through siestas and Saturdays. A constant stress factor, which is about to become another every day acceptance in the name of progress and construction.

Lots of big time construction. Huge signs is displayed long before action. Big words- little information. We are kept in the dark. And obviously hey obscure the view, blocs in the landscape. Carry mostly pseudo information and company advertisement. What about a drawing with buildings, trees and paths to actually give the citizen a true idea of what is going on. At least available in public office.

Are we blind yet?
When you fly over the continent of Europe by night, you realise how much electric light shines all through the night. It is not so many ears ago, that you could clearly recognize a big city coming up. Now you see lights every where, from south to north.
This alarming, for various of reasons. Living between so much electric light disturbs the natural 24 hour cycles of living beings in the area 2. it weakens your eyes, and your other senses, there otherwise would get sharpened, when one sense is on hold. Not much variety of their use.

Water
The art of living with water shortage. Rather now for goodness than soon from need.

Plastic
Cut it out. Boycott total.
Wrapping foods the old fashioned way (plates on plates, brown paper and string is all so more inviting. The food stays keeps consistent and is allowed to breathe).

Weakness hides in culture, like the rain hides in the sun. According to the fundamentals of nature, culture and feudal arts go hand in hand, and are not meant to be separated. If one takes comfort in the sunshine alone, he will not be prepared to face the undeniable threat of rain.

 Essentially it is about being prepared.


To be healthy without denying sickness and to improve the body without denying the mind; this is a mentality as well as a characteristic of Japanese citizens.
I have acknowledged the fact that the Japanese people are not the kind to pass on an opportunity; they will take that chance and place effort into advancing the self.
The world, becoming more peaceful, further developing and needing less of weapons, begins to demand a method both cultural and martial in which to train not only the body, but the mind as well; hence, what is called "karate."
While being constantly in contact with people, and at every opportunity of discussion, what "karate" involves is something that contributes to the growth of a young man's health and mind.
In March of the 10th year of Taisho, the fact that the Crown Prince, on his visit to Okinawa, specifically requested karate to be demonstrated for his enjoyment, is an (insurmountable honour for the relatively new form of martial art.
Long ago, while General Yashiro of the Japanese Navy docked in Okinawa, he was favourably impressed with karate, and set to study its value as physical exercise; in the first year of Taisho, the first 10 or so privates (seamen) were selected to reside in a nearby school in order to train for karate for approximately one week.
I was joyous to the fact that the Navy would choose karate as a method of exercise for its men, however, I was also disappointed by the fact that this practice was ceased after it was determined that karate excels too much in its form of attack, and those individuals who decide to use it for negative purposes could easily do so.
Funakoshi had dedicated approximately 40 years of his life to study karate, and is one of those honoured at the imperial demonstration; he wished that karate not remain and wilt in Okinawa, but to be spread throughout the world and advanced, so he wrote this book and requested my comments.
The importance lies not only in men, young and old to develop their minds and bodies, but also to the strengthening of their human characteristics.
The developing of the mental aspect of a person should not take preference over the actual training of the martial art.

1 - Educational Material for Citizens
With karate-jutsu at Ryukyu, the Ryukyu Bujutsu Chairman, Funakoshi Gichin, hereby regards the technique in a very familiar manner.


"Eternal peace is only a dream, however a joyful  dream it may be. War is a method which God gave humans to organize the world."
Every country, having participated in wars, are now using every human's power, to dedicate themselves to global organization and dedicated to the development of human culture.
Humans will be present eternally and improve themselves without limits.
History, even if grim or dark, becomes the foundation of this development. War, therefore, is still a "stepping stone" of this development. The present can not exist without its past. The development of human beings themselves will begin with the healthy body of its citizens.


The primary aspect of focus of organization after the war is the problem of educating the citizens. How are righteous parents created, and how are virtuous descendants created?
The expression of a martial (or feudal) mentality, the almost stubborn nurturing of the physical body; these are the activation factors of the citizens' education.
According to one John Barrow, "Political education is important, all young men should consider the politician's livelihood as their own," however, this is not enough for the education of the contemporary citizens.
Karate-jutsu is the material for educating the citizens well, as its technical difficulty and constant practice demonstrate. It is easy to perform, deep in variety, nourishes the mental health and strengthens the body; indeed, it is an excellent educational instrument for active citizens.


My regret is it was not started earlier, to these days now. It was not passed on from earlier generations, regretfully. I, Funakoshi, will attempt to spread this "Karate" to the world widely.
It may be documented and supplied as the educational material with which to educate our post-war citizens.
Hopefully, karate will become the norm, and be practiced throughout the world; to improve a nation's health and be used as the material to induce global activation of its citizens.


Karate from a Physical Educational Perspective
Karate, in Okinawa's long history, is one distinct form of a method of exercise. Since past times, karate was used to educate young men as one form of martial art, however, we cannot ignore the physical benefits to be gained from this "empty-hand" method of exercise.
What follows are the essentials of the physical benefits of karate, presented so that this can be used as material for study.
Karate can be considered from 2 perspectives; one, as a martial art, and two, as an athletic, physical method of exercise.


Karate as a Method of Exercise


In karate, there are different kata. When these kata are divided into parts, grouped differently, combined with different exercises, and then practiced everyday to improve technique, this is no doubt, in one aspect, exercise.
These exercises are organized so that "the four limbs and the body is constantly in motion, using a determined amount of strength and speed, and perform some actions which is accurately directed to some direction with appropriate methods."

The physical benefits of karate in the aspect of exercise are as follows:
(A) All sorts of exercises use the mind and body, require
input, and count on excellentagility.
In a purely physical exercise point of view, it increases blood circulation, encourages proper breathing and speeds up metabolism, as well as improving agility and the ability to physically elaborate and nourish one's self.
(B) Karate requires ability of the legs, and in performing exercise, the leg support the body's weight, advances and retreats while doing so; thus, its benefits as an averaged exercise are acknowledged for the legs and body. One is allowed to nourish his sense of height, his sense of muscle utilization, or the strength of the muscles of his back.
(C) When practicing kata in karate, one exercises and the shift of the weight of the body and its parts occur naturally.
Thus, when weight shifting is required, the limits to which one's weight can shift depends on the body itself thus, one part does not have to suffer the burden of the whole body's weight on its own.
Hence, when kata is continually practiced, no one, specific part is emphasized, and the whole body gains the benefits. Karate as an exercise, is exceedingly beneficial physically as shown above, however, between the ages of 10 to 60, only those who are between 15 and 40 should participate in vigorous training.
Most exercises do not demand a considerable amount of mental demand; however, there may be a demand upon the pulse rate and breathing rate of the trainee.

Karate as a Martial Art
Karate defends or prevents an opponent's attacks, then strikes at an opponent's unpreparedness; thus, as a contest involving two persons, technique can often change according to the situation.
in this case, karate is purely an art of combat. Karate's physical benefits in this perspective is as follows:
(A) The body and its parts' movements are fast, accurate
and places demands on the muscles to move.
A considerable amount of exercise is performed in a relatively short period of time.
(B) One can incorporate other methods of exercise such
as advancing, retreating, or jumping into the natural
exercises to perform them together.
(C) It encourages the nourishment of agility, observing
ability, decision - making, calmness, courage and speed.
(D) In general, all muscles will be used, but focus is
placed on the thighs, stomach, shoulders, waist, and
back; and in contest, the demand for mental strength is
high, whereas the effects on the pulse rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate is moderate.
(E) As a martial art, the appropriate age group is from 15 to 40 years of age.

There is no “Striking First” in Karate
Karate, as a martial art, must be understood that it will involve two individuals to cause harm to themselves; thus, a first strike can hardly be justified, and in a sense, is foolish.
Karate demands health; and with health, it is good and it may be evil; used properly, it will protect the body and the weak; but if used improperly, it will go against human order and become evil.
Aggression takes the spot of humanity and justice when they are not present, when karate is used, one may become either an enemy or a hero and in situations where tempers have flared, the tendency is to act before thinking, so one must avoid this tendency to do as such.
It is not just enough to surprise an opponent or be praised by others; like an unproven scholar, a bushi is pitiful until he proves his worth.
One will improve, one will get worse; one will memorize a kata and understand lightly the meaning of it; and learn to use his hands and feet without reluctance.
Unless one keeps his mouth shut as he improves himself, he will have enemies all around himself: penitence and his own humility are the greatest admirable qualities of a karate trainee.

25 fresh clove of garlic

Smash the garlic, cut lemons then mash or blend together. Add water and bring the porridge slowly to the boil for a minute. Leave 12 hours to cool under lid. Strain and bottle. Keep in the fridge.

Drink a schnapps size every evening before bedtime (and if you crave it, also in the morning) for 3 weeks, stop for 7 days and the continue for another 3 weeks. To be done intensively once a year only. Though it can also be used as an excellent tonic when your immune system is low.

During the 7 week course of the elixir your body will be going through a constant detoxification process. Toxins get pulverised rather than broken free and as the elixir is an immune system strengthener, cleansing symptoms should not be repressed. Drink water to help "flush out" the toxins if you experience temporary periods of illness like symptoms - this is only your body´s way of eliminating toxins. For long term benefit and deep cellular cleansing it is important to complete the 7 weeks.

The elixir is recommended especially for circulatory problems such as hardening of the arteries, thrombosis and heart diseases. It also lowers cholesterol and blood pressure. Fill  dog/cat/human-foodcan, PETbottle,.... with self-made compost and good soil and plant care a baby-tree  A mini plantation on your window, terrace , front door  ….care it well =60 billion of trees a month, 720 billion trees a year ….!!!!!Buy the seed or find it in the forest .We can plant the little trees on a car-less-Sunday at the side of Highways or  the town/village entrance, in schools , on the mountain ,etc …Let´s have a party !!!!it is better that than burning or throwing in the ocean !
