SAVE THE HOMO SAPIENS LETTER MANIFESTO 1999-2026

1999 FINISH TALKING. ACTION. YOUR DECISION IS THE SOLUTION.

2026 - 27 YEARS LATER

FROM DREAM TO ACTION. FROM ACTION TO REALITY. WHAT CAN I CO2 TODAY!

TRANSLATION LETTER 1999 ALEXANDER MW SEGHERS

RES NON VERBA FINISH TALKING. ACTION. CONSEQUENT ACTION.

Since the 1960s and 70s we have been talking about pollution,
overpopulation, the extinction of species, deforestation,
SAVE EARTH, OZONE, OCEANS...

Nada feito.
Nothing done.

On the contrary:
STOP CO₂.
More petroleum and more cars, asphalt...

Important conferences of the nations,
in four- and five-star hotels,
comfortable bellies full,
talking about what we really ought to do.

Every year.
Percentages and financial mathematics.

Outside there is green and blue.
Birds sing and the wind whispers.
Salt, sylt and the sea,
colour and life,
snow...

They are all there too.

They live.
They feel.
They speak.
They dance.
They laugh.

The same day,
the same night,
the same stars,
the same rain,
warmth,
life —
and vida.

A mathematically imposed growth model.

GDP must grow.

Eucalyptus trees —
no oak,
no chestnut.

Tobacco.
Hamburgers.
Television.
[60?]
And GSM.

WHY SAVE / SALVA EL / THE HOMO SAPIENS?

The evolution of the hominids:

Homo erectus, Cro-Magnon, Neanderthal, etc...

He who naturally survives by thinking,
by projections and forecasts,
by models, permutations and combinations.

Thinking as a natural strength.
Family and intelligence.

This evolution has changed part of the
Sapiens sapiens group
and has put it on the wrong track.

Imperialism.
[handwritten word unclear]
Gold.
Bretton Woods.
Comfort.
Talking.
Illusions.
Paper security.
IQ.
Media.
Borders.

HOMO NO SAPIENS.

That group is putting
all the intelligence on Earth
in danger.

Our group too.

YOUR DONATIONS, WE TURN INTO RADICAL P.R. AND PROMOTION.

handwritten: “Uw donaties, God(?) geeft(?) ... mondiale / radicale Promotie” — partly unclear

YOUR DECISION IS THE SOLUTION.

STOPCO2.COM THE 2026 MANIFESTO

RES NON VERBA hybride written by Luna and Alexander MW SEGHERS

THINGS, NOT WORDS.

For decades, humanity has talked.

We have held conferences.
Written reports.
Produced projections.
Made promises.
Set targets.
Published percentages.
Calculated economic growth.

And meanwhile:

The air changes.
The oceans change.
The soil changes.
The climate changes.
Nature changes.

We know.

We have known for a long time.

And yet knowledge alone does not create action.

THE QUESTION

How did Homo sapiens — the human being capable of imagining the future, developing science, creating extraordinary art and solving extraordinarily complex problems — become so good at understanding a problem...

...and so slow at changing the behaviour that causes it?

Perhaps the missing element is not more information.

Perhaps it is visibility.

CO₂ is invisible.

Its consequences are not.

We see heat.
We see drought.
We see floods.
We see polluted air.
We see disappearing biodiversity.
We see damaged landscapes.

But we do not see the CO₂.

So let us make the invisible visible.

THE MISSING LINK

Between knowing and doing, something is missing.

A permanent reminder.

A simple signal.

A connection between everyday life and the consequences of everyday choices.

That is where STOPCO2 begins.

Not with another lecture.

Not with another complicated report.

Not with fear.

With visibility.

With recognition.

With a question.

WHAT CAN I CO2 TODAY?

FROM DREAM TO ACTION

The dream of a healthier, cleaner and more balanced world is not naïve.

The dream is the beginning.

But a dream without action remains a dream.

So:

SEE.
KNOW.
CHOOSE.
ACT.

And then:

FROM DREAM TO ACTION.
FROM ACTION TO REALITY.

THE ENERGY CHOICE

The question is not simply:

What does energy cost?

The bigger question is:

What does our energy choice cost society, nature and future generations?

Every litre of fossil fuel has a climate cost.

Every form of energy has consequences.

The challenge is therefore not to pretend that one system has no impact.

The challenge is to choose intelligently.

To reduce pollution.
To protect air and water.
To reduce unnecessary health costs.
To strengthen local economies.
To create useful employment.
To increase resilience.
To give people more choices.
To create the conditions for ecological transition.

The cheapest energy is not necessarily the energy with the lowest price.

The true value of cleaner energy is also the damage it can help us avoid.

FROM CONSUMER TO PARTICIPANT

We are not only consumers.

We are participants.

Every day we buy.
We travel.
We eat.
We drink.
We heat.
We cool.
We build.
We throw away.

Everyday life is therefore not outside the climate story.

Everyday life IS the climate story.

That is why communication must meet people where life actually happens:

On packaging.
In shops.
On products.
In transport.
In fashion.
In media.
At home.
At work.
In entertainment.

365 days a year.
24 hours a day.

RES NON VERBA

Do not tell people only what they should fear.

Show them what they can do.

Do not ask humanity to become perfect.

Make better choices easier.

Do not wait for everyone to agree.

Start where action is possible.

Do not turn climate action into punishment.

Make it constructive.

Make it understandable.

Make it visible.

Make it human.

Make it possible.

SAVE THE HOMO SAPIENS

Perhaps the great question of our time is not whether humanity is intelligent enough to survive.

Perhaps the question is whether we are wise enough to use our intelligence.

We have inherited an extraordinary planet.

Green and blue.

Air and water.

Forests and oceans.

Birds and insects.

Animals and plants.

Sunlight and wind.

Soil, rivers and rain.

A living system that existed long before us.

We did not create it.

We are part of it.

And we depend upon it.

SAVE THE HOMO SAPIENS.

Not because humanity is the centre of everything.

But because humanity has the extraordinary ability to understand consequences —

and the extraordinary responsibility to act upon that understanding.

THE CHOICE

The future is not somewhere we are simply going.

It is something we are creating.

Every generation leaves something behind.

A landscape.
A technology.
A culture.
A memory.
A consequence.

What will ours leave?

More words?

Or results?

STOPCO2

STOPCO2 is not the end of the conversation.

It is the beginning of a different one.

A conversation that leads somewhere.

From information to awareness.

From awareness to choice.

From choice to action.

From action to measurable change.

THE MISSING LINK.

FROM DREAM TO ACTION.

FROM ACTION TO REALITY.

RES NON VERBA.
